4:45  - Discussion & Wrap Up

Many people think that LWV is all about elections and voting, and aren't  aware that we advocate on a wide range of issues.  This session will put that notion to rest. Our opening talk with feature Jeanette Neagu, who will set the stage by telling us about LWV's long history of water work.   Leagues across the country were surveyed as to their water work, and we've been compiling the results.  This afternoon will feature a 'lightning round' of speakers from LWVs around the country showcasing the work their Leagues have done, followed by a discussion period.   Local Leagues have been advocating on a variety of water issues, from scarcity to flooding, nutrient pollution to toxic contamination.

After a short break, we will talk about tools for advocating, starting with knowledge.  Judy Beck from LWV UMRR will introduce  Dr. Emily Reed,  The title of Dr. Reed's talk will be "The
Internet of water and how to find water information to support your advocacy".
