2/16/2026

Welcome to LWV ABC!  We are very glad to have you join us.  This blog post has a variety of information sources for you.

First, LWV is a national organization with Leagues organized at the national level (LWV US), state level (LWV MN) and local level (LWV ABC and the other 33 Leagues here in our state).  You are a member at all levels.

LWV US has its offices in Washington DC and works on national issues, lobbying Congress and engaging in litigation.  The President of LWV US is Dianne Wynne - her 'state of the League' talk for 2026 is on the right here.

LWV US's Take Action page has a number of you can use to help you understand issues and reach out to your Congressional representatives.   The Legal Center lists the many lawsuits that LWV's across the country are involved in.  Here, you can see the scope of our litigation as LWV across the nation.  This article discusses the current lawsuit where LWV MN, Common Cause, and two individual voters filed a motion to intervene on behalf of voters after the Department of Justice sued the Minnesota Secretary of State.

LWV Minnesota offices at Landmark Center in St. Paul.  All LWV members in Minnesota are members of LWV Minnesota as well.   LWV MN's focus is democracy and making it work for everyone.    In the video at the right, former Executive Director of LWV MN - Michelle Witte - talks about what makes LWV a powerhouse for democracy.  She says its our nonpartisanship and our tolerance for all that makes us special.  We advocate on issues but the seek to create a space where all feel free to share their views.

Sam keeps opportunities as up-to-date as he can on our Take Action Page, so check there as the resources, trainings and events are changing all the time. Additionally your Advocacy Chairs receive regular emails from Sam with resources and news about getting involved. Sam will be hosting regular calls (like we do for Presidents, VS Chairs and Membership Chairs) for Advocacy Chairs starting in January.  That will be an important place to get connected too!
